Private obstetric scanning is, at its best, a quiet craft. Families come in nervous and leave with answers. They remember the sonographer's name, the way the room felt, whether someone offered a tissue at the right moment. Two years on Christon Road have taught us that good ultrasound is half clinical skill and half presence; and that the second half is just as hard to find.
That's why hiring well matters more than almost anything else we do. The team at Gosforth is small by design. People know each other's working patterns, cover for each other on holiday, and discuss tricky cases over a kettle. We don't run a punishing rota; we don't chase volume; we don't expect anyone to scan when they're not at their best. What we do ask for is appropriate professional registration, obstetric experience, and the temperament to handle a Saturday morning room full of grandparents.

Most of our recruitment falls into three buckets: experienced and registered sonographers (full-time, part-time and locum cover), front-of-house reception, and clinic admin. Senior clinical and management positions surface every so often too. Appropriate professional registration is non-negotiable, paired with a recognised UK postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound, typically a PgDip or MSc, and demonstrable obstetric scanning experience. Active professional-body membership matters to us as well, both for indemnity reasons and for staying plugged into ongoing CPD.
