The Luxury Gender Reveal at Numi Scan Gosforth is the celebration version of the standard gender scan. Underneath it's still a private 2D ultrasound from 15 weeks with a 99%+ accurate boy-or-girl call and a wellbeing check; but everything around it is built for the reveal: a confetti cannon to pop in clinic, keepsakes to take home, and a sealed envelope option if the answer is going to a party in Heaton, Jesmond, Benton or further afield.
What your sonographer covers during the scan:
- Confirms baby's sex with 99%+ visual accuracy from 15 weeks
- Watches movement, tone and general wellbeing
- Listens to an audible heartbeat on the speakers
- Reveals on the day or seals the answer for a reveal party

If you only need the answer without the celebration kit, the standard gender determination scan is £68. For an answer earlier than 15 weeks, the DNA gender blood test works from 8 weeks via a maternal blood sample.
When is the right week to book?
Visually, on a 2D scan, baby's anatomy isn't reliably readable for sex until 15 weeks of pregnancy. That's the earliest week we'll accept a luxury reveal booking. Here's how the booking pattern shakes out across our diary:
- 15–16 weeks: the earliest reliable window. The 16-week milestone guide covers what we typically see. Want an answer earlier than this? The DNA gender blood test works from 8 weeks via a blood sample.
- 17–22 weeks: the busiest window by some distance. It sits neatly between the NHS dating scan and the 20-week anomaly scan, so for many families the reveal at our clinic is genuinely the first time anyone in the room knows.
- 22–30 weeks: still reliable. Some parents at this stage roll the gender into a combined visit with the 4D HD Live bonding scan for a fuller experience.
- After 30 weeks: doable, but unusual; most parents have found out by this stage and are booking growth and presentation scans instead.
Whichever week suits you, the same celebration kit is included: confetti cannon, A4 print, key ring keepsake, scan video and the 4D peek. Available before or after your NHS dating scan.
Luxury reveal vs standard gender scan: which one?
The two scans give the same answer with the same 99%+ visual accuracy from 15 weeks. The split is everything around the answer. The standard gender determination scan (£68) is the no-frills option: wellbeing report, free 4D peek, 4 A6 prints, sealed envelope on request. The luxury package (£95) builds the reveal experience around it.
What the £25 upgrade gets you:

Agree with the other reviews that Numi Scan provide a wonderful experience. The staff are all lovely and make you feel at ease from start to finish. I had a gender blood test and scan done and did not feel that the process was rushed in any way, I got to see my baby projected onto the wall in front of me which is not something I had experienced anywhere else where it’s normally a much smaller screen. I got to take 4 photos away with me but got sent all of them electronically to keep. My gender blood test was on Saturday and I’ve already received my results the following Tuesday afternoon! Amazing service all round, would 100% recommend

It was such a lovely experience and l was so glad to be able to share it with my mum. Gina, my sonographer, was incredible- she made me feel very relaxed and answered any questions I had. I didn’t feel rushed at all, and felt i really was able to bond with my baby. The pictures I received were great quality. I honestly can’t wait to come back for another scan soon!!

I had a gender blood test and scan done and did not feel that the process was rushed in any way, I got to see my baby projected onto the wall in front of me which is not something I had experienced anywhere else where it’s normally a much smaller screen. I got to take 4 photos away with me but got sent all of them electronically to keep. My gender blood test was on Saturday and I’ve already received my results the following Tuesday afternoon! Amazing service all round, would 100% recommend

This was our third scan at Numi Scan Gosforth and every experience has been exceptional. Our sonographer yesterday was Gina who was just wonderful and so kind and took time to explain everything we could see on the screen. The facility itself is lovely and relaxing. The quality of the scan is very good as are the images you receive afterwards. It really is a luxury service which I think is excellent value for money. I would highly recommend.

I highly recommend Numi Scan for your scans. I felt so welcome from the moment i walked through the door. The man at the front desk (i unfortunately didn’t catch his name) is very friendly. It was such a lovely experience and l was so glad to be able to share it with my mum. Gina, my sonographer, was incredible- she made me feel very relaxed and answered any questions I had. I didn’t feel rushed at all, and felt i really was able to bond with my baby. The pictures I received were great quality. I honestly can’t wait to come back for another scan soon!!

Visual gender determination on a 2D ultrasound only becomes properly accurate at 15 weeks of pregnancy; earlier than that, baby's anatomy isn't formed enough to read with confidence. The appointment is 15 minutes long. You'll find us at Unit 13, The Stottie Shed, Bakers Yard on Christon Road, ground-floor access, off-street parking at £1 for up to three hours, and a short walk from Gosforth High Street and Regent Centre Metro. Settle into the scan room with Mum plus up to 9 guests, and your experienced and registered sonographer will run a transabdominal scan (over the tummy, never internal) with warm gel. The wellbeing checks come first; the gender call comes second. You can pop the confetti cannon in the room, or have the answer sealed in an envelope for a reveal back home. Have 500–750ml of water around 30–45 minutes before the appointment, and don't empty your bladder right before the scan. Comfortably full lifts the uterus into a clearer position; uncomfortable isn't the goal. Two-piece, loose-fitting clothing makes the tummy easier to access. The luxury route makes most sense for parents hosting a reveal at home or filming the moment for grandparents.
It happens; babies wriggle, sleep and occasionally turn their back to the probe for the entire scan. We'll spend time encouraging baby to move (drinks, position changes, a short break), but if it's still no good, the re-scan is free within two weeks (Mon–Fri). That free re-scan is one of the main reasons families pick the luxury package over the standard gender scan.
Absolutely, this is one of our most common requests. We write the result on a card, seal it in an envelope, and that envelope can go home with you or straight to a friend or relative who's organising the reveal. The colour-matched confetti cannon or balloon is sealed separately so it doesn't spoil the surprise either.
