What is 8K image enhancement?
8K enhancement is an optional post-scan upgrade. We take the 4D HD Live photos captured during your scan and run them through an 8K AI process that sharpens detail, smooths skin tones and renders the image at a much higher resolution. The result is a photorealistic keepsake of your baby's face. It's not a different kind of scan; it's a quality upgrade applied to images you already own.

Your scan is the same scan it always would be, performed on our standard 3D and 4D ultrasound equipment by an experienced and registered sonographer. The 8K AI enhancement is a post-processing step that sharpens detail and produces a photorealistic finish on the digital image you take home.
Why does it work best after 26 weeks?
Around 26 weeks, your baby has accumulated enough subcutaneous fat for facial features (cheeks, lips, eyelids) to be fully formed and rounded. AI enhancement works by adding fine detail to existing image data; the more detail there is in the original 4D scan, the better the enhanced result. Earlier scans can still be enhanced; the result just has less to work with.

Yes, any 4D scan we perform produces images suitable for enhancement. Both our standard 4D Baby Scan at £78 and the Luxury 4D Baby Scan at £125 work well as a base. The 8K upgrade is the same flat fee regardless of which scan package you choose.
What format do I get the enhanced images in?
High-resolution JPG files delivered by email, ready to print at full size or share digitally. Files are large enough for poster-size printing (A2+) without quality loss, handy if you want to frame or gift them.
Can the enhanced image diagnose anything medical?
No. Like all our private scans, this appointment includes a pregnancy wellbeing assessment carried out by a qualified sonographer, but it does not replace NHS antenatal care, screening or diagnostic services.
